Located in the heart of Gisborne, the Portside Hotel is within walking distance of the city’s main attractions. The hotel offers free WiFi and a fitness centre. Its rooms are equipped with kitchenettes and include a flat-screen TV. Free toiletries and room service are also included.

The hotel has a great location, and the rooms were comfortable. Our room resembled a small apartment with a kitchenette and separate living area, plus a king bed. However, the HVAC system was difficult to figure out, with several ceiling-mounted units and only one remote control. It was confusing to operate and was not intuitive to use.

Haurata Backpackers

The Haurata Backpackers is a four bedroom holiday home that boasts a traditional kiwi atmosphere and a large park-like garden. It features avenues of cherry trees, a spiral garden ceremonial area and a century-old woolshed. Guests can also walk through the native bush and find the Haurata river, complete with a waterfall, rockslides, and swimming holes. This area is ideal for families and nature lovers alike.

The Haurata Backpackers offer accommodation in the Gisborne region of New Zealand. It is located 65km away from the Gisborne city and 24km from Matawai village. Those driving to the region will find that it is easily accessible via SH2.

Royal Matawhero

The Royal Matawhero is a boutique hotel in Gisborne’s wine country, with inexpensive rooms and ensuite studios. The motel offers free parking and room service. Raglan Roast coffee is famous throughout the region, and the hotel is known for serving it. The hotel also has a restaurant and bar.

There is also a quaint track through native bush that leads to a beautiful rocky river. The river has several swimming holes and rockslides, making it a perfect playground for the adventurous and nature lovers.

Manutuke Eco Retreat

Manutuke is a settlement in the Gisborne District in New Zealand’s North Island. It is located west of the city of Gisborne on State Highway 2 near the mouth of the Waipaoa River. A number of visitors visit the region each year to experience New Zealand’s natural beauty.

The Manutuke Eco Retreat is a nature-based camp site located near the city. The accommodation costs $280 for a couple and $100 for each additional guest. Booking is not essential, but peak seasons are often more expensive.
